Das Wollschaf hat heute nicht nur eine Frage sondern gleich mehrere, die ich am besten alle einzeln beantworte.
Nach welchen Gesichtspunkten wählst du die Farben beim Wollkauf?
Es kommt darauf an, welche Wolle es ist. Pulloverwolle wird nach dem breit gefaecherten gotischen Farbspektrum von Hellschwarz zu Dunkelschwarz ausgesucht. Ab und zu verirrt sich auch das ein oder andere Blutrot dazwischen. Sockenwolle ist dagegen ein ganz anderes Thema. Mein Sockenwoll-Stash faellt vollkommen aus der Rolle. Darin gibt es sogar rosa, pink und gelb (ja, das gibt’s hier sogar schriftlich *lol*).
Kaufst du ausschließlich deine Lieblingsfarben?
Nein.
Suchst du die Farben passend nach den Farben deiner übrigen Kleidung aus?
Pullis & Strickjacken ja, Socken nein. Einige werden vermutlich sagen, dass das bei fast nur Schwarz nicht schwer ist, aber selbst da passt nicht alles zusammen (es gibt gruenliches Schwarz, roetliches Schwarz, Blau-Schwarz etc.) und ohne Schwarz geht sowieso nicht 😉
Kaufst du das Garn, weil dich die Farbe oder Farbkombination “anspringt”, unabhängig davon, ob sie dir steht?
Ja, das kam schon vor. Ich habe einige Straenge handgefaerbtes Garn in Braun und Lila hier, das ich zusammen zu einem Cardigan verstricken wollte. Dem aufmerksamen Leser wird nicht entgangen sein, dass hier was fehlt 😉 Was ich damit mache, weiss ich noch nicht.
Kaufst du Garn in “deinen” Farben auf Vorrat, weil es möglicherweise in der nächsten Saison nicht mehr zu haben ist?
Industriegarne: nein. Entweder es gibt Schwarz in der Farbpalette oder es gibt keines. Dass Schwarz als einzelne Farbe aus dem Programm genommen wurde, ist mir noch nicht passiert, eher dass es gar nicht erst erhaeltlich ist. Bei handgefaerbten Garne, die nicht genau reproduzierbar sind, sieht das schon anders aus. Da greife ich dann doch eher zu.
Nimmst du bei Strickmodellen genau die Farben oder Farbkombinationen, in der das Modell abgebildet ist?
Nein. Ich habe noch kein Modell in der Originalfarbe der Anleitung nachgestrickt und meine Vorstellungskraft ist mittlerweile sehr gut darauf trainiert, sich Modelle in schwarz vorzustellen.

What are the factors for colours for yarn that you buy?
It depends on what kind of yarn I want to buy. Sweater yarn will be chosen by the wide spreaded gothic colour range from Light Black to Dark Black. Now and then you will find one or another Bloodred in between. Sock yarn is a totally different topic. My sock yarn stash is totally falling of the goth colour range waggon. There is even pink, hot pink and yellow in it (yes, it’s here in writing *lol*).
Do you only buy your favorite colours?
No.
Are you chosing the colours matching to your existing wardrobe?
Sweaters & cardigans yes, socks no. Some of you maybe would say that it isn’t difficult with mostly black but let me tell you even there not everything is matching (there is greenish Black, redish Black, blueish Black etc.) and without any Black is not possible anyways 😉
Do you buy the yarn because it is screaming at you “Buy me!”, indepent from if it suits you or not?
Yes, it happened before. I bought some skeins of handdyed yarn in brown and purple that I wanted to knit together as a cardigan. The intently reader will recognize that there is something missing. I don’t know yet what I’ll do with it.
Do you buy yarn in “your” colours just for stashing for the case it’s discontinued in the next saison?
Industrial yarn: no. Either they have Black or they don’t have it. I didn’t see it yet that Black as a single colourway would be discontinued, mostly it is that there is no Black at all. Handdyed yarns: Different thing because they can’t be reproduced in exactly the same way and when yarns like this cross my way I tend to buy them even if I don’t have a project in mind.
Do you knit with exactly the same colours as shown in the pattern?
No. I didn’t knit a pattern in the original colourway yet and my imagination has a pretty good training for imaging patterns in Black.
